Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has donated the sum of Twenty million naira to Angel Asien, for breaking the Guinness World Record as the individual to embark on a read-a-thon for a record 230 hours exceeding the previous record of 145 hours.The wife of Edo State governor Betsy Obaseki made the announcement at a ceremony to mark the end of the longest Read Aloud Read-a-Thon by an individual here at the Edo State Library, in Benin City. Betsy Obaseki who expressed profound pride and optimism, stated that this will inspire other young girls like her, encourage them, give them hope, and push them to break records.Governor Godwin Obaseki, recognizing her remarkable dedication, commended her efforts, emphasizing the significance of nurturing a culture of education and aspiration among the youth. Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Joan Oviawe, underscored the importance of fostering reading champions among Edo children, commending Angel for exemplifying this during the read a thon. Also her Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Diaspora Affairs, counterpart Dr. Uyi Malaika, expressed immense pride and joy in honoring Angel Asein's extraordinary achievement in completing the Guinness World Record Reading Marathon. As the celebrations continued, Angel's name was enshrined in history, forever commemorated as a record-breaker and a beacon of determination and dedication.
